There was a time when you knew you had to go home because the streetlights came on. That still may be true in many places. That golden summer hour between the end of dinner and the beginning of bedtime, when you ran out of the house for those last hours of play, still exists. It’s the time when the lightning bugs start to flash on and off in the darkening greenery like so many fairy lights. When we were kids, we thought they were magical.
